HS 472: Psychology of Health

Professor: Prof. Mrinmoyi Kulkarni

Semester when I took the course: Spring,2017-18

Prerequisites: None

Content: The course tries to enable you to develop an understanding if the human physiological and psychological functions. The first half of the course focuses on the macro aspects of health like the social status, income etc. Concepts like social class, discrimination and its impact are dealt with here. The second half of the course focuses on the personal aspects of psychological health like stress, emotions etc.  The course load is pretty chill and one can perform decently well by just following the lectures.
The paper pattern was objective (MCQs) without any negative marking in both the Midsem and the Endsem. 1 assignment and a project were a part of the course as well. Both were fairly easy and didn’t consume too much time.

Attendance: 10% weightage is set aside for attendance.

Grading:  The grading was fairly decent more on the lenient side but since the exams were easy, you’ll have to do considerably well to get a good grade.

Marks distribution: 35% – Midsem & endsem each; 10% each for project, assignment and attendance
