Motivation behind course

Study of psychology helps one Describe, Explain, Predict and Control an organism’s behaviour by different biological, cognitive, evolutionary, humanistic, cross-cultural, behavioural or psychoanalytical approach. Psychology has some very interesting applications in our day to day life including dealing with stress, how memory works, studying different types of personalities, to name a few.

Course Content:

Introduction to Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Learning, Memory, Motivation and Emotion, Language and Thought, Personality

Pre-requisites:

None.

Feedback on lectures:

Classes were informative and interesting. The instructor illustrates the concepts through a variety of examples and in-class activities. Many interesting topics like ‘Language determines thoughts or otherwise?’ are debated and discussed in class. Discussions on Psychological experiments offer a new way of looking at simple things in life.

Feedback on tutorials, assignments and exams:

Quizzes and Midsem exam had objective questions. Mid Semester examination had both MCQs and Match the columns questions. Endsem exam had both objective (40 marks) as well as subjective questions (10 marks). Few questions were from topics not covered in lecture slides but explained in class and textbook. Skimming through textbook might help one get a good grade.

How is the grading?

Grading is lenient.

Lecture slides as well as textbook,  are important for understanding and scoring well in the exam.

Questions are based on application and theory both and one needs to be careful while answering as similar options are available in single choice questions
